I sort of prefer it when media organizations wear their agenda on their sleeve. Feels more honest. I can see how it might feel like it undercuts the point that you're making in your piece though.
Oh, I think you're actually putting your finger on why it bugged me so much; it was the way the political bias/commentary intruded on someone's reading of the article. Someone reading my article would get that stuff shoved in their face, which felt especially irresponsible and unjournalistic.
